Politicalog - Fighting the Spin

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy. (Ernest Benn)

Exam board defends 47% A* grade
An exam board has admitted it made a GCSE exam paper too difficult - so had to give students an A* grade for getting just 47% of the marks.

The AQA board was responding to reports that students needed only 49 marks out of 105 on a business studies paper.

All boards adjust the marks needed in an effort to help the Government fool the public into thinking that standards have never been better maintain the standard of their exams year-on-year.
How would you feel if you had achieved 90%+ on that test just to find out that Thicky McThicko sitting next to you managed the same grade with just over half the marks?
